Privacy policy
Last updated 17 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data benchudev Ltd collects through this website and its mailing list, why, and what your rights are. We collect as little as we can.
Who we are
benchudev Ltd is the data controller. We are a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17511524, with our registered office at 57 Sunninghill Avenue, Hove, BN3 8JB. You can contact us about privacy at info@benchudev.co.uk.
The mailing list
If you sign up, we collect your email address. We use them only to send you news about Model Railway: 1950s Britain and our other games, such as the Steam page going live and the release date.
Our lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You confirm your sign-up by clicking a link in the first email we send. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time by using it or by emailing us.
We keep your details until you unsubscribe. After that we may keep your email address on a suppression list so that we do not email you again by mistake.
The list is held by Kit (Kit, Inc., formerly ConvertKit), which runs the sign-up form and sends the emails for us. Kit processes data in the United States. Transfers are protected by the standard contractual clauses in Kit’s data processing agreement. Kit records whether emails are opened and links are clicked; see Kit’s privacy policy.
The sign-up form on our home page is loaded from Kit’s servers (f.convertkit.com), which see your IP address as any web server does. When the form appears, Kit’s script stores a random visitor ID in your browser and tells Kit that the form was viewed, along with the page address and the site you came from. Kit uses this to count form views and sign-ups. If you sign up, it also notes in your browser that you have subscribed. See our cookie policy for details.
Website analytics
With your permission only, we use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd and Google LLC) to count visits and see which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from. It uses cookies and collects data such as your device, browser, approximate location and the pages you view. We do not use it for advertising and have advertising features turned off.
Our lawful basis is your consent. Analytics does not load until you press “Accept analytics”. You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the foot of every page. Google may process this data in the United States under the Data Privacy Framework. Analytics data is kept for 14 months. See our cookie policy for details.
YouTube video
The home page shows a still picture of our video, fetched from YouTube’s image server (i.ytimg.com), which sees your IP address as any web server does. The video player itself only loads when you press play, in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. From then on Google is responsible for the data it collects, under Google’s privacy policy.
Website hosting
Like any website, our hosting provider records technical information such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure. This is in our legitimate interest in running a secure website, and these logs are kept for a short period only.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we use your message and address to reply, and keep the correspondence for as long as we need it.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for automated decisions about you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to have it transferred, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email us. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113.
Children
This site and the mailing list are not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
